Hello,
We are working very hard in classroom 6 because we ALL want to do well on the CAHSEE in March (9th grade students will not take it this year) and on the STAR testing in April.
In Algebra, we finished off fractions and number lines and worked on adding and subtracting negative integers on the number line. I still don't understand why you weren't more excited about playing fraction black jack. We are finishing up working on Statistics, data analysis (mean, median and mode) while at the same time finding out the average cost of living in Oxnard. Next up: probability, ratios, proportions and will re-check percents and formulas with percents. According to the calendar (haha) we will finish all of that by Friday October 22. Test this Friday October 19 on mean, median and mode, and probability. Test Friday October 26 on Percents, percent increase and decrease and formulas with percents. FOR HELP YOU CAN CLICK ON ONE OF THE LINKS TO THE RIGHT AND FIND LESSONS, GAMES AND PRACTICE PROBLEMS.
Pre-Algebra students have worked hard on fractions and number lines. We have made several nice art pieces along the way. Great work students! Coming next is adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators and reducing fractions. Grade progress reports went out (hopefully). Reminder about grades: You EARN these, I don't GIVE these. Come to class, do your best, participate/do work and your grade will reflect that effort. If you have an off day, you can do work out of the text book:
ALGEBRA: Pages 26-29 All; Pages 32-35 All; Page 41 All; Page SB25 (back of book) All; Page SB29, 30 All; PreAlgebra Text (ask me for a copy) Pages 360-361; and PreAlgebra Text Pages 152-157.
PREALGEBRA: Pages 83-85 All; Pages 90-93 All; and Pages 100-102 All.
I will post more pics from class when I can get them to email!
